一、学校简介
帝国理工学院是伦敦大学（University of London）的独立学院，在学术和财政上均享在一定的自主权。早在1907年，此校已有多个学院，各个学院均会专注于不同的科目，在其专注科目上占有优势。但总体说来，帝国理工学院以工程、医科专业著名。帝国理工学院不仅在欧洲，在全世界也一直是声名远扬的，在2003年英国《泰晤士报》的全英排名榜中排行在第三位。学习上的压力比较大，男生和研究生的比例都很高。
学校座落于伦敦标准的富人区——南肯辛顿，与著名的海德公园、肯辛顿宫（戴安娜王妃生前住处）仅咫尺之遥。新生不仅可以申请学院内的宿舍，如果运气好的话，还可以申请到伦敦大学本部的住宿。此外，学生还可以免费使用伦敦大学其他学院的设施。帝国理工的毕业生在全英国的就业率榜上一直名列榜首。 如果你认为在此环境中只有一天到晚埋头苦读的话，不妨了解一下帝国理工学生的格言：“Work hard，play hard！”

此校在1996年英国高等教育基金委员会研究评估中，National Heart、 Lung Institute、纯数学、电脑科学、化学工程、土木工程、机械工程、矿业工程、Metallurgy 和 Materials等均取得5星，而Pre-Clinical Studies、生物化学、生物科学、化学、物理、应用数学、统计及运算研究、工程、电机及电子工程、历史等均获得5分。（分数由5星至1，最高为5星）
校方与高科技资讯工业等联系紧密，学校亦鼓励学生参与大机构的计划工作，很多课程包括一年在欧洲学习的内容，藉此来增加学科的实用性。

Attracting 25–35 students each year， our MSc course is among the largest in the world in this subject. The core course provides general introductions， as well as a very strong methodological and historiographical component. Option modules focus on specialist treatments of particular topics ranging from philosophy of science to the scientific revolution.
Students come from a broad range of backgrounds， from history to engineering， and a number of our students have backgrounds in the museum and educational worlds. Most of our students are full-time but we have a substantial number of part-time students |
